Dear Friends,

Greetings from the Indian Journal of Psychiatry (IJP)! My journey as the Hon. Editor of Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) is completing its term and it is time to take stock and share the work and ideas with you and seek your inputs. The journal has brought out six issues in the year 2019, and all the issues have been published within time. We are posting the journal by courier and any problem in getting the print copies of the journal is being addressed promptly.

We assure you of high academic content and transparency in review process. From this issue onward, dates of submission, revision, and acceptance will be printed. Our submission rate has doubled in the last 2 years and it is a remarkable achievement. Our impact factor is 1.122 and a lot of interest for the journal has been generated. International authors are eager to contribute to the journal, and there is lot of media interest and our articles are being commented upon.

Last year, we published the supplement on obsessive–compulsive disorder under the leadership of guest editors Dr. Janardhanan C Narayanaswamy, Dr. Shyam Sundar Arumugham, Dr. T. S. Jaisoorya, and Dr. Y C Janardhan Reddy. The Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) on child and adolescent psychiatry under the aegis of the CPG committee lead by Dr. Shiv Gautam, Dr. Ajit Avasthi, and Dr. Sandeep Grover was well appreciated. The abstracts of ANCIPS 2019 were released at the time of ANCIPS, Lucknow, in the same year. These were very much liked and admired by readers. We also published a supplement on Mental Healthcare Act (MHCA), 2017 in April 2019 in collaboration with Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine with guest editors Dr. Shahul Ameen, Dr. Mahesh Gowda, and Dr. G. S. Rajkumar, which was able to shed light on many issues related to MHCA, 2017.

I am lucky to be guided by our Executive Committee including President Dr. Mrugesh Vaishnav, Vice-President cum President-elect Dr. P. K. Dalal, Honorary General Secretary Dr. Vinay Kumar, Honorary Treasurer Dr. Mukesh P. Jagiwala, Immediate Past President Dr. Ajit Bhide. and Immediate Past Honorary General Secretary Dr. Gautam Saha. I am thankful to the Editorial Board Members, Advisors, and Journal Committee Members for guiding me. I cannot express the gratitude I owe to the editorial team, authors, and reviewers. As you are aware, our impact factor is now 1.122 and I thank the authors for their contributions.

This conference is being held in my city Kolkata which is famous for its hospitality, culture, plurality, and cuisine and it is also going to be very rich in terms of scientific content. Organizing committee led by Dr. Ranadip Ranjan Ghosh Ray and Dr. Gautam Saha has worked hard for making this conference memorable. I am also thankful for all the help provided by the Organizing Committee.

I thank you once again for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Hon. Editor of the Journal.

Long live IPS!

Long live IJP!
