Dear Esteemed colleagues,

It is a proud privilege to close the year 2016 and approach ANCIPS 2017 at Raipur.

I am extremely privileged to have participated in 2016 in various programmes across the country and to realize my dreams as President of Indian Psychiatric Society witnessing on the canvas across the country unfolding various activities of I.P.S. and the overwhelming response of all the forty committees, task forces, specialty sections flood with academic, social, service and advocacy initiatives.

I am particularly proud of Dr. Gautam Saha, our Hon. General Secretary, who tirelessly worked with me to see so many dreams come true. Be it the Mental Health Care Bill 2016 or the Disability Bill 2016, I.P.S. has been at the forefront and worked with the government, carers, NGOs working with mental health activists in building consensus.

We made history when I.P.S. had for the first time brought boundary guidelines, updated the Clinical Practice Guidelines, brought white paper on Oral Substitution Therapy for Opioids, brought the emerging science on Perinatal Psychiatry, brought on School mental health, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, specialty sections etc. There was immense contribution from our members. I.P.S. members also excelled in sports, IPL cricket, art and drama.

I am grateful to the editor for bringing out the supplement of Abstracts and various activities well in time. I am grateful to all the office bearers and EC Members for joining hands in all my endeavors.

On the whole I rest with a personal satisfaction of having attempted and crossed the goals I set to myself and INDIAN PSYCHIATRIC SOCIETY.
