The Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) has been conducting regular meetings through its Task Force on Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) for psychiatrists in India. Socio-cultural factors unique to this part of the world, epidemiological, clinical and basic science advances are all taken into consideration while trying to build a consensus on therapeutic approaches.
It gives me pleasure to place before you the CPG for PSYCHOSOCIAL INTERVENTIONS IN ADDICTIVE DISORDERS. This supplement to the Indian Journal of Psychiatry is the result of the painstaking efforts of IPS Addictive Disorders Specialty Section team - Dr. Pratima Murthy, Chairperson, Dr. Debasish Basu, Co-Chairperson and Dr. Atul Ambekar, Convenor in addition to all the authors on this well accomplished task. I also thank President Dr. (Brig) MSVK Raju, along with the editorial team of IPS led by Prof TSS Rao.
