Every scientific society is known by the work which it carries out for the benefit of its members, which should ultimately help every individual of the nation.
For a long time, the Indian Psychiatric Society is publishing Clinical Practice Guidelines for the treatment of various psychiatric disorders. These guidelines mainly contained pharmacotherapeutic management of various disorders. There was a long-felt need, and discussions were going on among the members of the society to have a Clinical Practice Guidelines on Psychotherapy and Alternative Therapies, an important armamentarium for the management of psychiatric disorders.
I am happy that such a guideline is being published which is suitable in keeping with the Indian culture and ethos. I hope that these guidelines will be very useful to our members in their day-to-day practice. Similarly, our patients will be able to participate in such therapies and get benefited.
I congratulate contributors for their painstaking work and also Editor of Indian Journal Psychiatry for publishing this Clinical Practice Guidelines on Psychotherapy and Alternative Therapies.
Long Live IPS!
