The review article titled “Religion and mental health” published in Indian Journal of Psychiatry, on pages S187-194, Suppl 2, Volume 55, 2013,[1] is being retracted because it has been plagiarized from another article titled ‘Religiousness and mental health: a review’ published in Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry, on pages 242-250, Issue 3, Volume 28, 2006.[2] This has been brought to notice of the Editor-in-Chief by one of the contributors of the original article published in 2006. Plagiarism, unethical publication or redundant publication violates the editorial policy of Indian Journal of Psychiatry, which follows best practice guidelines given by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) mentioned on the Information for Authors and as codified in the signed statements made by the authors regarding the copyright of their work. This article has been retracted as per request made by Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board of the journal.
